The Energy of Space to Place: The Impact of Clearing and Forming a Connection
As humans, we are deeply connected to the spaces we inhabit, whether it be our homes, workplaces, or public spaces. The environment around us shapes our inner and outer landscapes, and has the power to influence our experiences and emotions. This is the premise of my thesis as a Masters student in Experiential & Creative Arts Therapy, where I explored the relationship between space and people, and how space can become a place (of meaning).
The difference between space and place in this context is that space is an unintentionally used area and place is a meaningful area that we can thrive in.
My research and experience showed that acknowledging and creating a relationship with space can bring meaning and awareness to being, and transform a space into a place of meaning. The process involves four main steps: acknowledgement, clearing, forming a relationship, and empowerment in placement.
The first step is acknowledgement, which involves recognizing and respecting the land you are on. This may involve establishing an agreement or statement of intention for being on the land, particularly if it is Indigenous land.
The second step is clearing the space of imprinted left dense energies from prior human relationships and entities. This can be done through various means, such as using light, plants, water, smell, color, boundaries, and cleanliness. By clearing the space, I suggests that we can create a clean slate for ourselves and future occupants.
The third step is forming a relationship with the space. This involves maintaining responsibility for the energies within the space and the use of the space. By forming a relationship, we can create a deeper connection with the space and foster a sense of ownership and belonging.
Finally, the fourth step is empowerment in placement. This involves a mutual relationship between the occupant and the space, with light expanding, healing, and growth being possible. I suggests that by empowering ourselves in placement, we can create a positive feedback loop where the space supports us and we support the space.
Overall, my thesis highlights the importance of the relationship between space and people. By acknowledging, clearing, forming a relationship, and empowering ourselves in placement, we can transform any space into a place of meaning and awareness. As we navigate our way through life, it is important to remember that the spaces we inhabit have the power to shape our experiences and emotions.

After years of studying and experiencing this topic, I had a personal revelation when I moved into a new space and failed to acknowledge the importance of light and the land. This was due to illness and a lack of energy, but as soon as I made the decision to move into a lighter, more supportive environment, everything around me changed for the better.
As a practitioner who is passionate about the relationship between space and people, I conduct energetic space clearings to help individuals create a more meaningful and supportive environment and home. Please feel free to contact me for further information.
